12th of Lothius , 44 YE
The Ogre Ghurggish has begun work on a number of magical trinkets. He assures us that, with the proper metal ingots he can create weapons and armor to serve us in our campaign against the Giants of the Frost Peaks. To that end we now find ourselves in the wilds, on the way to the Duergar city of Firg-Tholgin.
The Duergar there have long held the city against their former fire giant overseers. We shall trust to our similarity to the grey dwarves to get us past the game and into town. From there I have no clue how we are going to obtain the adamant that we need, nor how we are to escape; I doubt my companions have any ideas.

The town is more filthy than I could have imagined. A huge black stone wall separates the town proper from it’s ghetto which stretches for miles. Center in the city profile is a large tower, smoke and soot are constantly streaming out of it’s vents; a massive forge, no doubt where the Adamant is kept. The guards to the gate however were less than welcoming, no surprise.
To gain entry we have waylaid a caravan of salt merchants coming out Firg-tholgin. Their cart and goods commandeered, we left the merchants tied up outside town. Ozur has charmed one of the duergar guards to act as our guide post in. I was to play the part of a duergar merchant, my gothi companions my slaves. As we approached the gate the guard captain stopped us and demanded payment for our entry, when he had just let the cart prior to ours in. Further more he insisted upon inspecting the cart goods before entry. The guard and I were nearing blows when Melrakki offered up a sizable purse, as a bribe to the commander. I half expected the duergar bastard to take it and arrest us, but we were allowed entry instead.
Inside the city is beyond foul. The foundries fill the air with soot and char, and there is a constant a metallic taste. The lower city loud with the sound of commerce in any number of things, most of which are illegal in western lands.
The Duergar here may have freed themselves from their giant masters, but they have become just as foul, it’s hard to imagine that we share ancestry with this vicious people.
